The 47th annual Aspen Summer Words Writing Conference and Literary Festival was held from June 18 to June 23 at the Viewline, a resort in the mountain town of Snowmass, Colorado, around 15 minutes from downtown Aspen. The conference featured workshops, including a workshop on book editing, for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers; panels and craft talks; and readings; as well as opportunities to meet with agents and editors.

The 2022 Kentucky Book Festival, presented by Kentucky Humanities, was held October 27 and October 29 in Lexington, Kentucky. The festival included a ticketed luncheon with fiction and nonfiction writer Geraldine Brooks and biographer and historian Emily Bingham on October 27 and culminated with a daylong celebration featuring book signings, story-times, discussions, and other events with 150 authors on October 29 at Joseph-Beth Booksellers.

Residencies of one week to two months are offered to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators from late March through early June and from early September through early November at Omi International Arts Center, situated on 300 acres in the Hudson River Valley town of Ghent, New York. Approximately ten writers can be accommodated during each session. The residencies include private lodging, meals, and opportunities to meet with New York City publishing professionals.

The 2023 National Black Writers Conference Biennial Symposium was held from March 31 to April 1 in the Edison O. Jackson Auditorium at Medgar Evers College, as well as online. The symposium will featured scholarly presentations, roundtable discussions, readings, and an awards presentation. This year’s theme was Diasporic Visions: A Celebration of Black Speculative Fiction. Participating writers included poet, fiction, and nonfiction writer Jewelle Gomez; fiction writer L. Penelope; fiction writers and memoirists Tananarive Due and Wayétu Moore; and fiction writer and essayist Nisi Shawl.
