Other Features:

UIC also offers a PhD in English with creative dissertation. MA and PhD students take writing workshops together.

The two-year program is designed to provide intensive work in a particular genre plus an advanced overview of literary and cultural studies. A three-year option can include secondary teaching certification.

Students complete the MA with a partial manuscript, roughly 75 to 150 pages for prose and 40-50 pages for poetry.
