I am an artist first, and I like to write! I am working to create stories that I can use to showcase my art in graphic novel or web-comic form.
I'm a professional editor with experience in several fields (trade publishing; international affairs; IT). My first novel is out on sub through my agent (as of April 2021) so I'm focused now on research for and drafts of a second novel.
Conference/workshop experience: NY State Writers Institute; Grub Street; FAWC; and Words & Music (in NOLA). Two grad degrees in international studies (but no MFA).
My fiction is based largely on my 1st career, as a Soviet specialist for the US government, but TBH I'm not a fan of most contemporary thrillers. (Exceptions: Joseph Kanon's Defectors and Robert Harris's The Ghost. Other favorites: Rumaan Alam's Leave the World Behind and Rosalie Knecht's Who Is Vera Kelley? )
I'm open to critique groups--happy to read other people's work--but have nothing yet to share myself, so would want any group to include goal-setting and accountability check-ins.
Flexible on how often to meet but bi-monthly or monthly would work best for me.
I am an engineer who is finally getting into writing. I am almost done with the first draft of my first novel, a steampunk mystery set in an alternative Victorian era in what (was) Virginia. I have many other ideas for sequels, other books, and a collection of short stories.
I think that next (while I let my novel sit before editing) I will write one of the short stories and try to submit it to a contest.
I love the research portion, and history especially. Right now while writing I'm also trying to soak up as much as I can learn about the craft, while networking and setting up my brand as an author.
It would be lovely to work with a group on this site.
Hello! My name's Jack, I'm a 22 year old writer living in Washington, near Seattle. I've written on and off through college, taking several creative writing classes to hone my skills. The most intensive piece I've written was a feature length film script, but I've also written a television script and series bible, as well as short stories and poems.
I often find maintain a habit of writing difficult, thought since I graduate in a few weeks, I'm hoping that I'll have the time and motivation to write more, and I hope that through finding a group of likeminded artists will help me stay motivated in my writing, as well as provide me an outlet for constructive criticism of my work.
I am a Black Disabled writer who recently moved to Goldsboro, NC. I am not picky about what I write and am interested in learning how to write new things/forms. Am also interested in revision, critique, and accountability. Also some fun! (because like the saying goes... "all work and no play...") I have participated in NaNoWriMo and NaPoMo. I enjoy writing poetry, fiction, and CNF. I have projects that I wish I could finish (as in publish) and would love a virtual group to write with that may transition to in-person as restrictions around COVID-19 begin to lift in Wayne County.
I am looking for a writers group who will provide me with constructive criticism. I am trying to finish my first draft of a book, urban fantasy. My next project is a fictionalized memoir.
We’re a collection of independent writers and visual artists looking to explore the (seemingly empty) space between ourselves and the other, whether it be another person, the natural world or maybe even another plane of existence.
Send high-quality work that you don't mind someone sitting on for awhile. No SPAM. No Simo's.
I am an unpublished writer working on my first mystery novel. I participate in writing groups in Germany and we regularly critique each other's texts, but as I am writing in English, I am looking for feedback from English native speakers.
