Many, we work more as an art blog.

Not Your Mothers Breast Milk is an art blog dedicated to sharing stories about the human experience, connecting with one another, and giving artists an outlet to express their struggles and successes on this journey through life.

We're looking for something that makes us feel. It can make us feel joy, sadness, anger, silliness, etc, etc. Just make us feel something.

Have a piece that you love that maybe needs a little more work? Send it in! Our editing team will look it over and give you feedback about how you could make it stronger! When submitting, put "Tweak" in the subject line to let us know you want feedback on it!

Currently we only publish books by a small roster of authors who are interested in releasing multiple books with us, rather than publishing anywhere and everywhere, as quickly as possible. We are only interested in submissions from authors that want to stay with us for multiple books.

Read at least one of our other books before submitting.

We give good books a fair chance by looking for the remarkable where it is often overlooked.

We don't publish horror or erotica only because we don't know the market and could not find your readers.

Regional interest only. We primarily publish novels and short story collections that could be called "beach reads." We also run an annual short story contest with cash prizes and publication for top stories.

Query first. Please don't submit material that does not have a connection to the Delmarva area. No poetry or memoir.

Visitants pop up throughout literature as ghosts, as fits of madness, and as omens. In nature, a visitant takes on a different meaning: a migratory bird that has come to a place temporarily; a cicada that rises from the soil every 17 years. Here at Visitant, we have created a space where you and your temporary visitors—your stories, your art—might rest, grow stronger, and be shared. Send us your work! https://visitantlit.com/contact

We are accepting submissions of flash fiction, serialized fiction, non-fiction essays, multimedia essays, poetry, art, and interviews. Submissions should be limited to 1,500 words. If you are interested in submitting a longer piece, we may still be able to publish it in serialized format (please see this example: https://visitantlit.com/2016/06/21/a-coven-in-essex-county-part-1). Please send all submissions to visitantlit AT gmail DOT com. Please attach your submission as a Word document and include a short biographical statement in the body of your email.
