Frost Farm Prize for Metrical Poetry

A prize of $1,000 is given annually for a poem written in metrical verse. The winner also receives a scholarship to attend and give a reading at the Frost Farm Poetry Conference in Derry, New Hampshire, in August. A.M. Juster will judge. Tremont Writers Conference

The Tremont Writers Conference will be held from October 23 to October 27 at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont in a secluded campus in Townsend, Tennessee. The conference features workshops, author readings, and craft talks for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers, as well as outdoor activities, including hikes and campfires. Creative writers who are age 18 and over are eligible. The faculty includes poet Maurice Manning, fiction writer Monic Ductan, and nonfiction writer David Brill. Frank X Walker will be a guest poet.

The Writer’s Hotel Maine “Mini MFA” All-Genre Writers Conference

The 2024 Writer’s Hotel Maine “Mini MFA” All-Genre Writers Conference will be held from June 5 to June 11 at the Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The conference features a full-manuscript pre-conference reading with two sets of editorial comments, workshops, and attendee and faculty readings. One-on-one agent pitching as well as pitching practice sessions will take place post-conference via Zoom on June 29.

The Writer’s Retreat at Good Contrivance Farm

Good Contrivance Farm, an educational nonprofit, offers residencies of up to four weeks year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a Victorian farm in Reisterstown, Maryland, located 24 miles north of Baltimore. Residents are provided with private lodging in a renovated barn loft, which includes one bedroom, a bathroom, a full kitchen, a dining area, and a library; or in the Hen House Cottage, which includes a sleeping area with a queen-sized bed, a full kitchen, and a bathroom.

Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation

A prize of ?3,000 (approximately $3,797) is given annually for a book of poetry or fiction translated from Arabic into English and published for the first time in English during the previous year. Translations of Arabic works of poetry or fiction originally published in or after 1967 are eligible. Publishers may submit five copies of a book in English translation published between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, with three copies of the original work by March 31. There is no entry fee.
