The 38th annual A Rally of Writers conference was held on April 12 at the West Campus of Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. The conference featured workshops, craft classes, panel discussions, and readings in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Participating writers included poets Dennis Hinrichsen and Ruelaine Stokes; fiction writers Caitlin Horrocks and Alex Kourvo; and nonfiction writer Robert M Weir. Fiction writer Erin Bartels gave the keynote address.

Paris Writer’s Residency

March/April 2025

The Paris Writer’s Residency will offer a monthlong residency in October to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators at the American University of Paris. The resident is provided with an en suite single or double room, which includes a work desk, at the Irish Cultural Center in Paris. Some rooms include a private study space, and residents have access to a shared kitchen. Access to the library at the Ecole Normale Supérieure is also offered. The resident receives travel reimbursement of up to €1,500 (approximately $1,544).

Visual Arts Center of Richmond

March/April 2025

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VisArts) offers an 11-month residency from September 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026, to a poet, fiction writer, or nonfiction writer at the Virginia Dairy building in Richmond’s historic Fan District. The residency includes private studio space, an honorarium of $5,000, and a $500 budget for materials. The resident writer has the opportunity to teach up to two classes at VisArts on a paid contract basis, host regular studio visits with donors and open studio events, and give a public reading.

The Writer’s Retreat at Good Contrivance Farm

Good Contrivance Farm, an educational nonprofit, offers residencies of up to four weeks year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a Victorian farm in Reisterstown, Maryland, located 24 miles north of Baltimore. American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute

The American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute will offer workshops to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers from July 1 to July 23 on the university’s campus in the seventh arrondissement of Paris. The faculty includes poet and fiction writer Siân Melangell Dafydd; poet, fiction writer, and nonfiction writer Biswamit Dwibedy; poet and nonfiction writer Lisa Robertson; and fiction writer Amanda Dennis.
