The Lab Creative Writing Retreat

The 2026 Lab Creative Writing Retreat will be held from September 30 to October 8 in Mexico City for four nights and at the Khungi Temple, a remote retreat center in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, for four nights. Programming includes time to write, craft lectures, generative writing exercises, process workshops, docent-led tours of museums and galleries, and other cultural excursions for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty include fiction writers Matthew Clark Davison and Alice LaPlante. Tuition, which includes lodging at an aparthotel in Mexico City and the retreat center in Valle de Bravo, ground transportation within Mexico, and all meals, is $4,500 for a double-occupancy room and $5,500 for a single-occupancy room.
