Sitka Center for Art and Ecology Writing Residencies

March/April 2026

The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology will offer two- to twelve-week residencies from October 2026 to April 2027 to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators at the center’s main campus and adjacent 80-acre property, all located within the unique ecosystems of Cascade Head and the Salmon River Estuary in Otis, Oregon. Each resident is provided with a private cabin with a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, as well as private studio space and access to the Hale Reference Library. Residents are responsible for travel and living costs.

Atlanta Writers Conference

March/April 2026

The spring 2026 Atlanta Writers Conference, sponsored by the Atlanta Writers Club, will be held on May 1 and May 2 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel. The conference includes a book fair featuring attendees’ books, presentations on the craft and business of writing, agent and editor pitch sessions, query letter critiques, manuscript excerpt critiques, author coaching, and Q&A panels for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. Virtual participation will be available for all agent and editor pitch sessions, query letter critiques, and manuscript excerpt critiques.

Get Lit! Festival

The 28th annual Get Lit! Festival will be held online and in person from April 17 to April 19 at various venues in and around Spokane, Washington. The festival features readings, craft classes, panel discussions, and a bookfair for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The Writer’s Retreat at Good Contrivance Farm

March/April 2025

Good Contrivance Farm, an educational nonprofit, offers residencies of up to four weeks year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a Victorian farm in Reisterstown, Maryland, located 24 miles north of Baltimore. Workshops and craft classes with visiting faculty are offered outdoors from May to September. The faculty includes poet and nonfiction writer Ross Gay, memoirist R. Eric Thomas, and publishing professional Jane Friedman (Jane Friedman Media).

Orion Environmental Writers’ Workshop

The Orion Environmental Writers’ Workshop will be held from June 14 to June 19 at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. In a recent video, Maggie Millner, Yale Review senior editor and author of Couplets: A Love Story (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2023), speaks about her favorite love poems, including June Jordan’s short poem “Resolution #1,003,” which she says “illustrates the way that love between two people can inspire a politics, a kind of political vision.” Spend some time thinking about the relationships in your life and who might inspire in you a sort of political vision. Write a poem that captures how to “love who loves me” and “stay indifferent to indifference,” as Jordan writes in her poem. How might the circumstances, breadth, and boundaries of your adoration for someone be political?

Poetry by the Sea: A Global Conference

Poetry by the Sea: A Global Conference will be held from May 19 to May 22 at Mercy by the Sea, a retreat center and private beach in Madison, Connecticut. Paris Writer’s Residency

March/April 2026

The Paris Writer’s Residency will offer a monthlong residency in October to a poet, fiction writer, creative nonfiction writer, or translator at the American University of Paris. The resident is provided with an en suite single or double room, which includes a work desk, at the Irish Arts Centre in Paris. Some rooms include a private study space, and residents have access to a shared kitchen and library at the Ecole Normale Supérieure. The resident receives travel reimbursement of up to €1,500 (approximately $1,750).
