Author's Bio

Lucille Lang Day was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of a memoir, ten poetry collections and chapbooks, two children’s books, and many short stories, creative nonfiction pieces, and reviews. In addtition, she has coedited two poetry anthologies. She received her M.A. in English and M.F.A. in creative writing at San Francisco State University, and her M.A. in zoology and Ph.D. in science/mathematics education at the University of California at Berkeley. The founder and director of a small press, Scarlet Tanager Books, she also served for seventeen years as the director of the Hall of Health, an interactive children's museum in Berkeley.
