Editorial Focus

Established in 1889, Poet Lore is the oldest continuously published poetry magazine in the United States. Poet Lore publishes semi-annual installments of the finest contemporary poetry both by established writers and those breaking into print. We have a mission of discovery at Poet Lore; therefore, every submission is read without regard to reputation by the Executive Editors: Jody Bolz and Ethelbert Miller.

Tips From the Editor

Submit up to 5 poems. Please wait 4 months before entering another submission. We limit the submissions to 5 poems or less because we have a small staff and we make it a priority to have each set of poems reach the hands of our executive editors. Please do not staple manuscripts. Please do let us know if we have met and/or published you before. If submitting simultaneously, please also let us know the moment your poems are accepted elsewhere, via e-mail, so we can move on to other fine work.
