Brooklyn Arts Press (BAP) is a literary press devoted to publishing chapbooks and full-length collections of poetry, novels, lyrical short fiction, and art monographs by emerging artists. We believe we serve our community best by publishing great works of varying aesthetics side by side, subverting the notion that writers & artists exist in vacuums, apart from the culture in which they reside and outside the realm & understanding of other camps & aesthetics.

We receive 800 manuscripts a year, many of them of high quality, & publish maybe 1% of those submissions. Competition is steep, so send us your very best work.

Representative Authors:

Anselm Berrigan, Daniel Borzutzky, Anais Duplan, Noah Eli Gordon, Carol Guess, Debora Kuan, Seth Landman, Joe Pan, Lauren Russell, Paige Taggart, Wendy Xu

New Rivers Press is interested in literary work of every character, but especially in diverse work that's aesthetically challenging and has a social conscience. Our Many Voices Project competition (Sept. 15 - Nov. 1) seeks the best new literary prose and poetry from new and emerging writers. Our Electronic Book Series (July 1 – Sept. 1) seeks manuscripts in popular fiction genres. During open submissions (May), we are interested in reading the best work from writers in all stages of their careers. Founded in New York in 1968, the not-for-profit Press has now published over 330 books.

Make sure to send mss. to the appropriate competition (MVP, Electronic Book Series, American Fiction) and to check deadlines and guidelines. We read general submissions in May and June.
