Prize in Translation

A prize of $1,000 and publication in Gulf Coast is given in alternating years for a group of poems or a prose excerpt translated from any language into English. The 2024 prize will be given for a single poem. Submit up to 10 pages of poetry translated into English, a copy of the original text, a brief bio of the author, a synopsis of the work being translated, and proof of permission to translate the work with a $20 entry fee, which includes a subscription to Gulf Coast, by August 31. The winning book will also be distributed to over 5,000 members of the Academy of American Poets. Alberto Ríos will judge.
