Under the Volcano Master Classes and Guided Residency

The 23rd annual Under the Volcano Master Classes and Guided Residency was held from January 8, 2026, to January 24, 2026, in Tepoztlán, Mexico, a village located one hour south of Mexico City. The program featured master classes in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as individual meetings with instructors, weekly open mics, readings, and conversations with guest writers, reporters, and scientists. Classes in all genres were offered both in Spanish and English.

Hambidge Creative Residency Program

Hambidge offers residencies of two weeks to two months from February through December to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on 600 forested acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia. Each resident is provided with a private cottage, which includes a bedroom, a studio, a full kitchen, and a bathroom. The cost of the residency is $300 per week; dinners Tuesday through Friday are included. Limited financial aid scholarships and several merit-based Distinguished Fellowships were available.

Colrain Cold Read

The Colrain Cold Read will be held online on June 14. The conference features evaluation and discussion of book-length and chapbook-length poetry manuscripts with poets, editors, and publishers. The faculty includes poet and editor Joan Houlihan and poet and Nightboat Books publisher Stephen Motika. The cost of the conference is $700. Jackson Hole Writers Conference

The 2025 Jackson Hole Writers Conference was held from October 23 to October 25 at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming. The conference featured craft and publishing classes, lectures, panels, readings, and manuscript critiques for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty included poet Dāshaun Washington; fiction writers Laura Pritchett and Lucas Schaefer; and creative nonfiction writers Julie Barton, Bridget Crocker, and Greg Marshall.

Arteles Creative Center

The Arteles Creative Center’s Silence Awareness Existence Residency Program offered one-month residencies to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators from January to March in the countryside region of Hämeenkyrö, Finland. Each resident was provided with a private bedroom and desk as well as access to shared kitchens, bathrooms, and studio spaces in two residency buildings. Residents also have access to a range of facilities, including a library, a meditation space, a sauna, and common areas. Two cars are available for transportation and exploration.
