I'm looking for a critiue partner with publishing experience in short fiction, personal essays, or middle-grade fiction. Current project: revising a historical MG novel for agent representation. I'm also looking to connect with kindred spirits for mutual support and friendship. I'm a veteran writer with many publications and awards. My debut MG novel was a Sydney Taylor Honor Book. My work has been supported by the Vermont Studio Center, TENT Children's Writing residency, and PJ Library. My personal essays explore grief, loss, parenting, and life transitions. I write a monthly blog on living the creative life.
I have been writing since I had the formal ability to express myself through a pen and pad. Writing is a passion of mine and has provided me with comfort in times of stress, excitment in times of happiness and solace in moments of pain. The genres that I mostly compose are through the lenses of poetry, nonfiction and my personal perspective of bipoc voices. I am looking for a community of like minded indiviuals that share my love for the craft. In addition, I would also like this space to serve as collective where we can all share our writings and provide support and encouragment. Virtual groups only.
I'm a trained journalist looking to explore other options as a creative/narrative nonfiction writer. I am not opposed to trying my hand at fiction, but I find nonfiction is my strong suit.
Hi All –
I'm working on an 'eco-adventure-memoir' based on 20 months of research (cultural ecology, environmental history) in the Solomon Islands conducted while a doctoral student. The book, while 100% based on field notes, journals and letters written while in the islands, will read more like a novel.
In 2016 I completed Stanford's two-year graduate Online Writing Certificate in creative nonfiction. Before that, my academic training was in the life and social sciences, and am a co-author on a book on the ecology and behavior of spinner dolphins. Along with workshopping experience in the Stanford program, I've also spent a decade editing academic projects for professors and grad students, and have recently participated in several courses—including workshopping—via creativenonfiction.org.
I'd love to find one or more serious/committed writers with workshopping experience who are working on projects in creative nonfiction, outdoor/adventure/nature/environmental stories, mixed-genre memoirs, etc., with whom to trade chapters for critique (and encouragement!). I live in midcoast Maine, but you could be located anywhere on the planet.
I have had some poetry published, I consider myself an emerging artist. I enjoy writing poetry the most but I would like to get into short stories, editorials and political writing. I am currently studying for my MFA.
I'm a later-in-life emerging queer feminist writer of color. I've been blogging for several years, and have recently rediscovered my absolute love of exploring the life and the world through words and language.
I'm mainly working in the realm of creative and narrative nonfiction, bordering on but not quite memoir.
I'm excited to join this community!
