The Fabulist seeks short (up to 3,000 words) works of fantastical and speculative fiction, and defines this expansively. Literary loves include science fiction, fantasy, intelligent horror, speculative fiction, literary fabulism, magic realism, mythic/folkloric works, near-future speculations, solarpunk/cli-fi, hopepunk, and genre subversions (crime, mystery, romance, westerns, thrillers, sea adventures, gothic, and quasi-realist works) that are anchored by some element of the fantastic.

We value

• Great writing (attention to sentence construction, an awareness of the poetry inherent in prose)
• Vivid settings that influence and engage the plot and character arcs
• Revelations of the self and the world we live in
• Sensitivity and alertness to the significant issues of our times
• Escapism
• Endings that are not punchlines

Pinhole Poetry is a digital poetry journal that loves the upside-down view and the fact that some art can only happen in the dark. They aim to be “the pinprick of light” for your work.
Pinhole Poetry will consider and challenge themselves with poetry that falls anywhere on the spectrum from lyric to narrative, but the poems that they gravitate toward usually fall somewhere in the middle.

Read at least one issue to get an idea of what Pinhole Poetry publishes. It is easy and free!

The Globe Review strives to create an accepting and diverse community of writers based on the core values of tolerance and creativity. It aims to empower marginalized and in any way oppressed social and ethnic groups, and to discover future leaders of the literary world.

Lane

Lane Jennings has written mostly poetry, published in literary magazines (Amelia, Antietam Review, Bitterroot, Bogg, Gargoyle, Little Patuxent Review, Nebula, Third Wind, Treasure House, Visions, etc.), and the books Lineage: Prose and Poetry of Three Generations (Xlibris, 2012), Virtual Futures: Worldviews of Alternative Tomorrows (Other Worlds Pess, 1996) and Fabrications: New and Collected Poems (Black Buzzard Press, 1998).  He has also published a few short stories, and one novel, Satisfaction (Xlibris, 2016).

After graduating from Williams College in 1966, he studied theatre directing on a Fulbright Scholarship in Munich, Germany, and earned an MA and PhD in German  literature from Harvard University.  He has also taught English in Hong Kong and worked as an escort-interpreter for the U.S. Department of State.

From 1984 to 1990 Lane wrote scripts and voice-over narration for documentary television shows produced and broadcast on PBS and in Europe.   He served for over 40 years as an editor and writer for the World Future Society, retiring in 2015 as Managing Editor of the professional journal World Future Review.   Now semi-retired, Lane still does freelance editing and works at screenplay-writing.

ZeaFey

I am a writer who wants to get more involved in sharing my work, and learn freelance writing. I began writing my first short stories and poems at the age of 10 years old, and have been on and off writing since then. Writing has saved my life in many ways, and I have a huge passion for the art. I would like to join a writing group to improve my writing skills, and meet people with similiar interests.

CWalton

I'm looking for a group of folx who are passionate about their creative non-fiction, personal essays, and poetry and would like to meet every so often to chat, read, and support one another in growing their craft.

Background: I work in Editorial at an art auction house in the city, and I feel I am ready to start writing poetry and creative non-fiction again. I am hoping finding a supportive and passionate group to help get back into the swing of it. I graduated undergrad in Spring of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Art History and a Women & Gender Studies minor. I completed my English capstone with a poetry collection.

Papers Publishing believes in putting the writing first. A group of creatives jumpstarted Papers as a way for writers and readers alike to go back to where it all started—the page. Writers come from all backgrounds, and the editors are aiming to bring more visibility to emerging writers whose work can sometimes be overlooked due to their lack of traditional experience.

Be yourself! We love individuality, and though we don't ask for cover letters, we love getting to know you and why you created this masterpiece! We represent bold, outrageous, raw, and completely beautiful writing—and we're working to challenge the literary norm.
