Looking for supportive group to share creative ideas and help improve my writing.
I was born and raised in the South though I lived in Los Angeles for nearly thirty-five years. I've returned to my roots and now live in North Carolina. I've had three books of poetry published, and a collection of my short fiction, What Shadows Eat & Other Stories, was selected by Yellow Flag Press for their Cypress & Pine Series. I am working on what I hope is the final revision of a novel set in Florida during the Seminole Wars.
I'm starting a chapter of Women Who Submit in Wilmington. We will meet once a month (Zoom now, and in-person as soon as possible) for a submissions party where we will create a library of literary journals, set goals, provide feedback on cover letters, query letters, applications for residencies, and so on.
Please contact me if you live in the area and are interested.
I have written poetry all my life and start my writing day in that genre. I am also working on two historical novels, one set in WWII and the other set in the U.S. at the time of the Vietnam war. The WWII novel is close to being finished. The Vietnam novel is in the first draft stage. What I'm looking for: discussion about writing work in those particular eras, any discussion about writing, and critique opportunities, if we can find a reasonable way to accomplish that.
I'm a poet and Short Story writer of 30+ years My poetry is in all forms I don't have just one style of writing My short stories are of mainly fiction and I'm looking to publish my poetry and stories and try my hand at writing a novel...
I am a writer, small business owner, and community builder living in Detroit. I'm currently working on a variety of projects including a linked collection of short stories and a novel. Most of my work right now centers around gender, identity, class, privliage and power.
I am an engineer who is finally getting into writing. I am almost done with the first draft of my first novel, a steampunk mystery set in an alternative Victorian era in what (was) Virginia. I have many other ideas for sequels, other books, and a collection of short stories.
I think that next (while I let my novel sit before editing) I will write one of the short stories and try to submit it to a contest.
I love the research portion, and history especially. Right now while writing I'm also trying to soak up as much as I can learn about the craft, while networking and setting up my brand as an author.
It would be lovely to work with a group on this site.
I am a writer, author and publisher ,I write poetry about life ,love and spiritually .I write to capture your mind ,body and soul.I want you to think ,laugh and to heal .I write to inspire people and to enlight you on the world that we exist in and beyond.I write for history and to inform you of love.I want you to envision your space and create another space for yourself .I am so there but I can write to escape or to be where I want to be . This space for me is a place of comfort and peace .This space is a whole new world of possibilities .
I'm a bit of a hodgepodge. I'm interested in a variety of subjects and as a result, I write in a variety of genres. I've also had a mixed experience when it comes to publishing. I have traditionally published two non-fiction books (addressing regional maritime history), but I have also had some success self-publishing as well.
Honestly, I'm not sure of my expectations for any potential writing groups that I might join. I would love to find a supportive environment where I could recieve (and give) feedback and writing advice. But, I've had bad luck in the past tyring to find a writing community. fingers crossed that I have a better experience this time! :)
I'm a writer who has spent a long time being too timid to call herself a writer. I enjoy writing fiction and poetry, though I have not refined my genre as of yet. I'm looking for a group of writers to help me improve my work and learn how to go about elaborating on some of the fragments that I have written in order to develop them into short stories or novels. In particular, I'm very good a setting a scene or a mood, but I struggle with identifying a central conflict to move the plot along. I love reading surrealism and magical realism and want to incorporate that more into my work.
