Yaddo offers two- to eight-week residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a 400-acre estate in Saratoga Springs, New York. Residents are provided with a private bedroom, work space, and meals. To apply for residencies from November 2025 through June 2026, submit up to 10 one-page poems or an excerpt of a longer poem totaling no more than 10 pages, or up to 20 pages of prose with a $35 application fee (which includes the SlideRoom portal fees) by August 1. A two-page preview of the work sample is also required. Limited financial aid is available.

Under the Volcano Master Classes and Guided Residency

The 23rd annual Under the Volcano Master Classes and Guided Residency will be held from January 8, 2026, to January 24, 2026, in Tepoztlán, Mexico, a village located one hour south of Mexico City. The program features master classes in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as individual meetings with instructors, weekly open mics, readings, and conversations with guest writers, reporters, and scientists. Classes in all genres are offered both in Spanish and English.

Hambidge Creative Residency Program

The Hambidge Creative Residency Program offers residencies of two to six weeks from mid-February to mid-December to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on 600 forested acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia. Residents are provided with a private cottage that features a kitchen, a bathroom, and studio space. The cost of the residency is $250 per week, which includes meals. Limited financial aid of up to $500 and several Distinguished Fellowships that cover a two-week residency and offer a $700 stipend are available.

Buinho Creative Hub Residencies

Buinho Creative Hub offers residencies of two weeks to two months year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in the historic town of Messejana, Portugal. Residents are provided with a single- or double-occupancy room in one of three traditional Portuguese houses, as well as access to private and shared studios. The Buinho residence also features a central studio and backyard workshop. The cost of the residency is €800 to €1,000 (approximately $894 to $1,118) per month, depending on the room; transportation and meals are not included.

Radcliffe Institute Fellowships

Fellowships of $78,000 each, as well as office space at the Radcliffe Institute and access to the libraries at Harvard University, are given annually to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers to allow them to pursue innovative projects. Fellows, who are expected to reside in Cambridge, Massachusetts, or the surrounding Boston area during the fellowship period, September through May, also receive $5,000 to cover project expenses. Poets who have published a full-length collection or at least 20 poems in magazines or anthologies in the last five years and who are in the process of completing a manuscript are eligible. Fiction and nonfiction writers who have published one or more books, have a book-length manuscript under contract for publication, or have published at least three shorter works are eligible. Writers who are graduate students or enrolled in a degree-granting program at the time of application are not eligible. For 2026–2027 fellowships, submit up to 10 poems of any length or a short story, a recent book chapter, or an essay totaling no more than 30 pages; a curriculum vitae; a project proposal; and contact information for three references by September 11.
