Tin House Summer Workshop

The Tin House Summer Workshop will be held from July 12 to July 19 at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. The program features poetry, novel, short fiction, and creative nonfiction workshops (eight participants per class) as well as one-on-one meetings with faculty and agents, craft lectures, author conversations, generative exercises, readings, and prom and karaoke nights. Tuition is $2,000; the fee for room and board in the Reed College dormitories is $600. Scholarships, payment plans, and application fee waivers are available.

Juniper Summer Writing Institute

Community of Writers

Jentel Artist Residency

The Jentel Artist Residency offers three-week residencies from mid-January to early December to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in the scenic foothills of the Bighorn Mountains, 20 miles southeast of Sheridan, Wyoming. Writers age 25 or older who reside in the United States (or are U.S. citizens living abroad) and who are not currently enrolled at an academic institution are eligible. Each resident is provided with a private room, a separate studio, a $300 stipend, and access to a shared library, recreation area, kitchen, and living area.

Millay Arts

Millay Arts offers two- and four-week residencies from April through November, as well as weeklong group residencies in December, to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at Steepletop, the former estate of Edna St. Vincent Millay in Austerlitz, New York. BAU at Camargo Foundation Summer Arts Residency

The BAU Institute offered a four-week residency from July 22 to August 19 to poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers at the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France, a commune on the Mediterranean coast approximately 30 minutes from Marseille. Midcareer writers who had been working independently for over 10 years were eligible. Residents were provided with a private apartment and access to the Camargo campus, including a reference library, gardens, and a Greek theater. Two travel grants of $1,500 each were available.

Bogliasco Foundation

The Bogliasco Foundation offers monthlong residencies from January to May and from September to December to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators in the coastal fishing village of Bogliasco, Italy, seven miles southeast of Genoa. Residents are provided with a private room, work space, and meals, and are invited to attend cultural events in Bogliasco and Genoa. There is no cost to attend the residency, but residents are responsible for their own travel expenses.
