I have always enjoyed writing words that come to me. My main genre is poetry. I tend to write about feelings, observations and rhyme. Looking to connect with others to better my craft.

I'm finishing my first book, a collection of essays, and I'd love to meet and chat with other writers in a similar position! I got my MFA in 2021 (COVID grad school) and have been revising since then. Black, queer, surreal, speculative. Love to read all genres, especially horror-infused!
Spoonie Magazine publishes art, articles, audio, poetry, prose, video, and hybrid works by disabled, chronically ill, and/or neurodiverse individuals (or their loved ones) on related subject matters weekly in their online magazine. All work is considered regardless of the perspective with which it approaches these topics. Their goal is to promote the voices of, and provide a space for, disabled artists and authors in publishing and the arts.
We champion representation and honesty in the creative discussion of disability. Our mission is to share authentic experiences— as happy, sad, inspirational, or frustrating as they may be. These individuals face unique challenges, so we have created an equally unique place specifically for them.
Note that submissions sent from Feb—April and Aug—Oct are simultaneously considered for publication in our print literary journal, Spoonie Journal.
Hello!
I'm a Chicago based poet looking to rejoin the writing community. I am seeking spaces to read and listen to others people's work, as well as share my own.
I’m a regularly published essayist (mostly) considering creating a collection (some days) who wishes they were part of a smart contemporary constructively honest writing group (but not always.)
Since launching in January of 2019, Sunspot Literary Journal has amplified diverse multinational voices. New works have been published in their original language side-by-side with English translations. Boundaries that exclude meaningful and important works have been broken by accepting extremely long-form pieces, a rarity in publishing today.
Microfiction, flash fiction, poetry, short stories, plays, scripts, literary works and well-written genre pieces up to novella length are welcome at Sunspot. We also accept graphic novels of most lengths, including micro graphic novels. Accepting artwork, up to 2 images per submission.
Please note that longer submissions are accepted only during the first part of each reading period. Novels and novelettes should be submitted early, before those individual forms close. Shorter pieces close later, with flash, very short stories, and artwork accepted through the end of each reading period.
I started writing about five years ago. Back then I was neck-deep in philosophy. Eventually, I swam into epic poetry, then formal, experimental, and speculative poetry. I hope to help resurrect the epic poem and verse drama, modernize it, and pull it back onto the pedestal it belongs. I am looking to find poets that don't just write to cathartically offload their emotional condition, but those who see poetry as a means to manifest the never-ending story of this life experiment. I love existential philosophy and view that as one of the most influential springboards to my art. I hope to surround myself with others who look at the individual as a means to uncover the who and what we are universally.
Major influences: Marlowe, Shakespeare, (Emily) Bronte, Dostoyevsky, Sylvie Kande, (James) Baldwin, Frantz Fanon, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Gerrard Manley Hopkins, John Milton, Alexandre Dumas, Ezra Pound, Louise Imogen Guiney, Homer, Keats, Ibsen, Virginia Woolf, Dante, Virgil, Jericho Brown, and many others!
I completed a Masters in English with a focus on Creative Writing at Wayne State University in Detroit. I am unpublished at this time. An accountability writing group is what I'm looking. I have some experience in writing groups, both at the university, and outside of it.
