The Nonconformist is a literary magazine dedicated to publishing fiction, poetry, experimental fiction and poetry, book reviews, literary criticism, and various culture-related articles. We believe in reconfiguring the world using pens, typewriters, and word processors. At The Nonconformist, we aim to create, encourage, and support a community of both emerging and established writers who will find their long-sought literary home here. Rochelle Potkar is an alumna of Iowa’s International Writing Program (2015) and a Charles Wallace Writer’s fellow, University of Stirling (2017). She is the author of Four Degrees of Separation and Paper Asylum – shortlisted for the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2020. Her poetry film Skirt showcased on Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. Her poems To Daraza won the 2018 Norton Girault Literary Prize UK, and The girl from Lal Bazaar was shortlisted at the Gregory O’ Donoghue International Poetry Prize, 2018. As critic, her reviews have appeared in Wasafiri, Sahitya Akademi’s Indian Literature, Asian Cha, and Chandrabhaga. Widely-anthologized, she has read her poetry in India, Bali, Iowa, Macao, Stirling, Glasgow, Hongkong, Ukraine, Hungary, Bangladesh, and the Gold Coast, Australia. I'm a late bloomer to dedicated writing. In July 2021 my first collection of poetry will be published. I tend to write pulling from my ancestors spirit's of trauma and marginalization. I often write about what haunts me.

I am a high school English and Creative Writing teacher. I have taught for one decade in local public schools, five years of which primarily served low-socioeconomic students. I enjoy dark literature: Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allan Poe, Charlotte Perkins Gilman. I'm also a fan of true crime anything- podcasts, documentaries, novels, etc. I am a mother to three children, two large dogs, one overweight cat, and a fluctuating population of fish. I am currently working on my master's degree in English, as well.

the museum of americana is an online literary review dedicated to fiction, poetry, nonfiction, photography, music, and artwork that revives or repurposes the old, the dying, the forgotten, or the almost entirely unknown aspects of Americana. It is published purely out of a fascination with the big, weird, wildly contradictory collage that is our nation’s cultural history. Issues appear three times a year, in the winter, summer, and fall.
