We have no restrictions on the content we publish, except that we’re passionate about publishing new perspectives — new ideas, new voices, new worlds, new challenges, new ways of seeing, etc.— a theme that can take an infinite number of shapes, including speculative fiction, experimental poetry, political essays, narrative reportage, and virtually everything else.

To submit your work, email the editors at arcturusmag@gmail.com. Please address the appropriate editor (see the masthead at the bottom of the About page) and use the subject line: GENRE: Title of Work (ex. FICTION: My Story). Provide a brief introduction and attach your work as either a Word Doc or PDF. We normally respond to submissions within one (1) month.

The Letters Page literary journal is published by the University of Nottingham School of English, and edited by writer in residence, Professor Jon McGregor. We’re interested in exploring what letter writing means to people - and has meant since writing was invented - in their literary cultures and their personal lives. We’ll be publishing essays, memoir, fiction, travelogue, reportage, poetry, criticism, interviews… any creative form of writing, so long as it comes to us framed as a letter.

• The letter should be handwritten on a single side of A4 (or your local equivalent), and sent in the post, with a return address on the back of the envelope. • You may include illustrations. • Enclose contact details on a separate sheet. A transcript may be requested. • The letter should be addressed to a notional ‘reader’ (and should balance the tone of address between the ‘collective’ reader of a journal and the ‘individual’ reader of a forwarded letter); the letter should not address or refer to the editor. • The letter should include some reference to the time/place of its writing and/or sending. • Your submission should be postmarked with a date no later than the stated deadline for submissions.

The New Verse News covers the news of the day with poems on issues, large and small, international and local. It relies on the submission of poems (especially those of a politically progressive bent) by writers from all over the world. The editors update the website every day or two with the best work received. What’s best? A genuinely poetic take on a very current and specific news story or event.

See the website for guidelines and for examples of the kinds of poems the New Verse News publishes. Then paste your submission and a brief bio in the text of an e-mail (no attachments, please) to nvneditor(at)gmail.com (replace (at) with @). Write “Verse News Submission” in the subject line of your e-mail.

At Proximity, we believe that tangible connections—the kind that root us in a specific place, time, or culture—are living wells of fresh ideas. We hope the stories we publish will expand our readers’ views of the world while grounding readers in their own communities. We choose stories that encourage reflection, laughter, conversation, difficult-but-important questions, and, on occasion, a really good cry. Each theme-based issue pulls together personal and documentary storytelling, diverse in form and length.

Read Proximity and keep tabs on our submission calls.

We’re looking for work that’s bizarre, authentic, subtle, outrageous, indefinable, raw, paradoxical. We’ve got our eyes on the horizon. Send us writing that lives just between the land and the sky.

Please note that we accept simultaneous submissions (and appreciate acknowledgement of such submissions), but do not accept reprints/previously published work. Please include a third-person bio in your cover letter. For examples of the work we tend to publish, please consult our current issue and online archives.
