We publish the best fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and art we can find. We hold three annual contests for flash fiction, poetry and short stories, each with a $1,000 top prize.
Scoundrel Time is a nonprofit online literary journal launched in response to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. We publish creative works--fiction, essays, poetry, humor, music, and visual art -- that respond to the threats against freedom and democracy, people and cultures, posed by the current world/political situation. We believe stories told in any form can remind us of our humanity, encourage understanding, embrace empathy, and reject hate.
Please take a look at our site, and read what we've published so far. Note that we are not looking for venting or diatribes. We're interested in works that tell stories, in whatever form. Please see additional guidelines on our site from our fiction editor, Karen Bender, and our poetry editor, Daisy Fried. Fiction and poetry can be submitted via Submittable. All other genres (creative nonfiction, humor, music, and art) should be queried first by email.
MISSION: Our aim at Atticus Review is to provoke and encourage conversation through the publishing of art and literature from under-represented artists and writers. We seek to give visibility to our contributors by promoting, nurturing, and supporting them, even after they’ve been published in our pages. We also aim to serve and help build the wider literary community.
The writing in Atticus Review is unashamed, unadorned, and unafraid. We want our contributors to dig deep into wounds to uncover words that touch the heart of the heartache — not to wallow, but rather to transcend despair through art and arrive at something hopeful. The stories we love are often lonely, and sometimes ugly, but we’re also deeply attracted to the bright, bold, and hope-infused.
We like hybrid, unconventional work that pushes boundaries, elevates and edifies on an intellectual level, that investigates the inscrutable essence of a thing, that avoids artifice to stand firmly in its unique voice. We are a platform, but not a pulpit. Moralizing is best kept at Sunday School. Judgement is best kept in court.
Emrys Journal seeks work from both emerging and established writers--send us something we didn't know we were looking for. We accept print submissions through Submittable every August 1-November 1. We accept web submissions year-round; send your flash, humor, poetry, or comics to emryswebsubmissions AT gmail.com.
BPP admires authors who challenge our perspectives, or who offer less-common inroads to the most compelling subjects of our time. But we only accept submissions that fit within our company's mission, which is: to engage readers on topics of contemporary culture through quality writing and thoughtful design. Our press strives to deliver socially relevant works that advise, guide, inspire and amuse. We champion authors with new perspectives, strong voices and original ideas that just might change the world.
Please read our mission carefully before you query or submit. For all submissions we require a full propsoal and a minimum of three completed chapters. Your proposal needs to be substantive, well thought-out, and complete. We may be small, but our standards aren't. We are extremely selective and consider numerous factors in taking on a new title. Please do not submit your full manuscript unless we have requested it.

S & H Publishing has one goal in mind - providing quality books for our readers. We constantly search for talented writers. Our aim is to provide our authors with many of the advantages of having a publisher, while letting them retain much of the freedom of a self-published author. Just as the contemporary woman is not restricted by genre or age, talent is not restricted by distance or national borders. We pride ourselves on our international community of talented writers.
Please read our submission guidelines. We tailor our style sheet to the country of the author.
Embodying the obsolete word it was named after, Apricity aims to manifest the feeling of the warmth of the sun in the winter in all that it publishes. Established in 2015, Apricity Press was created to fill an immense void in the publishing world. While there are a myriad of presses, literary journals and magazines, many lack the ability to publish multi-genre works, especially dance works. Because of this, Apricity constructed a space where incredible literary, art and dance works could be published side by side, showcasing the tremendous connections between the forms.
When submitting to Apricity, please follow our submission guidelines carefully!
