The Wax Paper is a broadsheet publication open to all forms of written word, imagery and collected conversation. The first priority of the Wax Paper is to expand our understanding of the people we share the world with, and in doing so, expand our understanding of ourselves. Pieces will be selected on their ability to illuminate the humanity and significance of the subjects that inhabit the work. The Wax Paper is inspired by the life of Louis “Studs” Terkel.

Our publication centers around thrillers (whether it be action thrillers, horror thrillers, crime thrillers, etc). As long as the work somehow connects to the thriller genre, authors are more than welcome to submit it. We aim to publish a mix of short stories, flash fiction, poetry, book reviews, and artwork in each issue.

Here are a few tips for submissions:

  • Please include a short author bio no longer than 75 words
  • You may include your story as a Microsoft Word attachment
  • One note regarding submissions is that fully edited work has a much higher chance of acceptance

Ink & Quill Publishing is an imprint of Mystic Publishers Inc. Our company was founded in July 2014. Our aim, "A Fresh Approach to an Old Idea,is to publish well-written fiction and nonfiction novels by our growing number of authors who all adhere to the standard of “Show, Don't Tell.”

Here’s my advice to new writers. Learn the rules. They will make you a better writer and in time will develop into good habits. There is a reason we have them, but during your first draft don’t hold so tightly to them. Get your ideas on paper. Make mistakes. Try new things. Some will work and some won’t. The important thing is to have fun in the process. The business and mechanics of the manuscript come later. That’s what editing and re-drafting are for.
