New authors make up 10% or less of each issue, but don't let that discourage you. We are interested in passionate new voices whose words and ideas hit us in the gut and leave us thinking about their work days after reading.

West Trade Review strives to put forth the best contemporary poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction (memoir/personal essays) and publishes a mix of established and up-and-coming writers. It is committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the editors want to hear from underrepresented voices of all types.

We like works that are edgy and affect us intellectually and emotionally.   We want poems , creative nonfiction (memoir/personal essays), and stories that make the reader think and feel, work that humbles us with its joy, humor, embarrassment, anger, hope, grief, or all of the above. We gravitate toward exquisitely crafted writing that has something important to teach us--something that readers really need to know, but might not have understood this was a need until the last word of the work.  Quality of writing, style, and characterization are important to us.

Please don't send us poems that rhyme, slam-style works, or dogmatically religious pieces.

Founded in 1944 by poet Wilber Stevens, Interim is edited by Claudia Keelan and Andrew Nicholson.  We are international literary journal that publishes art, flash and experimental fiction, hybrid texts,  literary nonfiction, poetry, poetics,  translation, and book reviews, by emerging and established writers. Quarterly issues of the journal are published online, accompanied by an annual print volume featuring new and previously published writing. Because we believe the truth is experimental, we are especially open to innovative texts.

Please read our guidelines and, ideally, a previous issue or two prior to submitting work.

We are currently accepting books by female or female-identified authors. We're especially seeking authors whose voices, cultures, and experiences are under-represented.

We are actively looking for for fiction and nonfiction young adult and children's books.

We are always seeking biographies about women scientists, artists, musicians, writers, athletes, politicians, inventors, activists and women who have lived extraordinary lives.

At the moment, we're being very selective in the adult fiction and nonfiction categories.

We are very selective. We’re always interested in fiction that is entertaining, funny, quirky that can touch on serious issues and yet written in a more positive style. Show your writing sense of humor or sly wit.

JuxtaProse is an online literary journal that publishes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from around the world. Its contributors have included Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and Man Booker Prize winners, and other acclaimed authors from fifteen different countries. Alongside these established voices, the editors make a concentrated effort to publish the work of emerging authors—including students and previously unpublished authors. Each of our issues reaches over 10,000 readers.

We believe that good storytelling begins with character. While we will consider any story that possesses literary merit, genre fiction is not our emphasis and will be a particularly difficult sell.

We currently publish approximately 3% of the fiction submissions, 4% of the nonfiction submissions, and less than 1% of the poetry submissions we receive.

About Place Journal is the literary publication of the Black Earth Institute. BEI is dedicated to art serving the causes of spirit, earth, and society. Issues are guest-edited by fellows of the Institute. Themes (titles of issues) are chosen by the editors. They seek pieces that relate to the specific call but always reflect literature that speaks in such a way to awaken us and help create a better world.

Please stick to the guidelines and to the specifics of the call. We are looking for engaged art that shows the way to a better world. Art can help move us there.

Saint Julian Press as a literary and educational organization embraces a vision to create a local and worldwide community, by engaging in a literary and artistic dialogue that promotes world peace, cultural conversations, and an interfaith awareness, appreciation, and acceptance.

In our mission as a new literary imprint we hope to identify, encourage, nurture, and share transformative literature and art of both past and living masters. While giving new and emerging artists, poets, and writers a place they may come home to and share their work.
