We are publishers of literature. Unconfined by the limitations of bigger publishing houses, Bloomsday gets to be more nimble and take greater risks bringing more diverse voices to more diverse readership. Bloomsday readers want books that change us, reorder our thinking, & make us feel hopeful about what good literature can accomplish in the world.
We publish bold books.
We publish books for readers who want to be in cahoots.
With books that say, “Ssshhh, settle down. Listen carefully. I have something to say.”
Latah Books is likeliest to accept full-length books with driving narrative force: literary and upmarket novels, as well as memoirs, travelogues, and other narrative nonfiction works in the realms of history, science, conservation, social justice, journalism and outdoor adventure. In short, we're seeking compelling books which elevate people's understanding of the world through the awesome and immortal power of story. We are particularly interested in books concerning the American West, especially the Intermountain West.
Quality and creative poetry and fiction.
When you send your manuscript at least do a spell check. We get some real underworked manuscripts!
We are seeking: vivid imagery and the balance of abstract to concrete imagery, the capacity to surprise, an elastic syntax, pace, and music, thematic cohesiveness and the emotional range and maturity, deft handling of highly charged emotion, use of wit, humor, and self-implication, choice and use of extended metaphor, skillfully juxtaposing the micro and the macro, and more.
All comers welcome.
Please note an important update to our guidelines: a strong confident voice is no longer essential.

East French Press is interested in producing works of any size and scope; working together to make an imprint in print.
Begun in 1979 by poet, teacher, and printer Gary Metras to print and publish short collections of quality contemporary poetry using the methods and equipment of the antique book arts, letterpress printing and hand-sewn bindings. The operation survives on a desired small scale without grants through the hard work of the publisher, the poets selected for publication, and the readers and buyers of the books: may we each and all survive in poetry. The Press is currently closed to submissions.
Not currently reading. No electronic submissions. Queries with 3-5 poems/pages from a completed chapbook manuscript.
No full-length manuscripts considered.
We offer an annual $1,000 cash prize for a book of poetry.
Please follow the guidelines carefully.
Our goal is to publish and support writers of color.
Backbone Press has been publishing diversely since 2012. We debut and support writers who are considered marginalized voices and whose work may not be published elsewhere. Our press was started as a response to the bleak state of diversity in publishing. We believe, in art, but certainly the literary arts, every voice is essential.
Word Palace Press is a non-profit press that publishes poetry, fiction, translations, and screenplays.
