Wellesley Books

Located in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Wellesley Books is a locally-owned, independent bookstore that carries children’s books, a selection of cards and gifts, new fiction and nonfiction books, and “gently read” titles. The store hosts readings, author events, and book club meetings.

Beyond Baroque Literary | Arts Center

Founded in 1968, Beyond Baroque Literary | Arts Center is located in the Old Town Hall in Venice, California, near the Pacific Ocean. Programs include readings and free workshops. The space also houses a bookstore and, since 1998, Beyond Baroque Books, an imprint dedicated to publishing emerging, overlooked, out-of-print, and experimental poetry, especially written by Los Angeles-based writers.

The Avid Reader

The Avid Reader comprises a pair of general-interest independent bookstores located in both downtown Davis and Sacramento, California. The store regularly features local authors for readings, book signings, and discussions.


Northshire Bookstore

Northshire Bookstore is a family-owned, independent bookstore located in Manchester Center, Vermont. Northshire was the first bookseller in the United States with an Espresso Book Machine (which offers Print on Demand books), and the store hosts regular author events, reading groups, and a public issues forum.

Founded in 2005, Head House Books is a locally-owned independent bookseller in Philadelphia that straddles two historic Philadelphia communities: Society Hill and Queen Village. The bookstore hosts author events and readings.


Blue Willow Bookshop

Opened in 1996, Blue Willow Bookshop is an independent bookseller and gift shop. The store offers a wide selection of books for adults and children, along with puzzles, games, and gifts. Blue Willow also hosts regular literary events, book club meetings, and story time readings for children.


Quail Ridge Books

Founded in 1984, Quail Ridge Books & Music is an independent bookstore that provides a wide variety of carefully selected books, events, discussion groups, and town hall meetings.


The Regulator Bookshop

The Regulator Bookstore is an independent bookseller in Durham, North Carolina. The store buys and sells new and second-hand books, and hosts regular author events, including the “Blast from the Past” reading series.


Burke’s Book Store

Burke’s Book Store, which has survived two World Wars, opened in 1875 as a family business and has been passed on for three generations. Today, the store sells new, used, and rare books. Their selection may also be purchased online.
