Editorial Focus

Wordgathering provides a venue for those whose talent in writing poetry converges with an interest in the growing field of disabilities literature. It seeks writing that counters stereotypes of disabilities. In addition to poetry, it publishes books reviews, literary essays, fiction, drama and art related to disability.

Tips From the Editor

We do not use "inspirational" work or stories of overcoming. We seek poetry, fiction and literary essays that make a genuine contribution to the field of disability literature. We appreciate poetry that provides fresh insights about what a disabilities perspective can provide and avoids clichés. Please read sample poetry before submitting. We discourage submissions by pdf file or other formats that can not be interpreted by a screen reader. Audio files will be requested or created for poems accepted. We do review books.

Please submit your work for review by the 15th of each month.
