Author's Bio

FERN G. Z. CARR is the President of the Board of Directors of Project Literacy Kelowna Society, lawyer, teacher and past President of the Kelowna branch of the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A Full Member of and former Poet-in-Residence for The League of Canadian Poets, she composes and translates poetry in six languages including Mandarin Chinese. Carr is a Pushcart Prize nominee and has been cited as a contributor to the Prakalpana Literary Movement in India. She has been published extensively world-wide: Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Cyprus, England, Finland, France, Holland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mauritius, Mayotte Island (Mozambique Channel), Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, the USA (in 35 states) and Wales. Some of her poetry was assigned reading for the West Virginia University’s College of Law course entitled “Lawyers, Poets, and Poetry.” Canadian honours include being featured online in Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, having her poetry set to music by a Juno-nominated musician and having her poem, “I Am”, chosen by the Parliamentary Poet Laureate as Poem of the Month for Canada.
