We obey no genre and take anything from limericks to fantasy to genres yet invented. Our key desires are originality, accessibility and quality. We like work with a point, something to say or some sort of inner majic that gives greater meaning to the pretty words and thrilling plots. That said, we're not really sure what we’re looking for until we've seen it, so give us a try. Published online monthly, Red Fez Publications features poetry and prose outside of the narrow, academic stream. Red Fez is committed to bringing light to underground and under-recognized writers and writing.

Please do NOT send snail mail submissions. Use the submission form on the website. Read the guidelines and past issues to get a feel for what we like.

Lines + Stars began as a means of establishing a new creative forum in Washington, D.C., a city that all-too-often coasts solely on its more mechanistic pursuits. While many of our contributors hail from the D.C. area, we've also expanded our writer-base to include national and international voices. L+S Press is our chapbook-publishing arm.

The Owen Wister Review is the University of Wyoming’s Arts and Literary Journal produced through the Student Media department. The editorial staff is comprised entirely of undergraduate and graduate students who have nuanced yet supportive tastes in art and writing and strive to publish the best quality creative non-fiction, poetry, fiction, and art submitted from both emerging and established authors and artists. We encourage work that challenges itself, that is naturally surprising.

While we have strong roots in promoting western-themed writing, we do not make it our primary focus. We encourage submissions of quality work regardless of theme or location. Please read our submission guidelines before submitting, and please do give us plenty of notice if you are submitting simultaneously. Since we publish only unpublished work, we do need to know if the piece is accepted elsewhere. We highly recommend submitting online for these reasons. Thank you!

Creative Nonfiction draws heavily from unsolicited submissions. Our editors believe that providing a platform for emerging writers and helping them find readers is an essential role of literary magazines, and it’s been our privilege to work with many fine writers early in their careers. A typical issue of CNF contains at least one essay by a previously unpublished writer. We’re open to all types of creative nonfiction, from immersion reportage to personal essay to memoir.

Please do send work that blends style with substance, and reaches beyond the personal to tell us something new about the world. We're drawn to stories that balance a strong narrative (i.e. something happens) with a teaching or reflective element (i.e. the something that happens matters for some reason). Please do include your complete contact information and keep us informed of the status of simultaneous submissions. Please don't send poetry.

RATTLE is pretty simple: We love poetry and feel that it's something everyone can enjoy. We look for poems that are accessible, that have heart, that have something to say. And then we publish them. Poetry should make you laugh or cry; it should enlighten and entertain.

There are no dos and don’ts. We have room to be eclectic, and seek to
represent the entire stylistic landscape. Formal poems, epic poems,
lyric poems, narrative poems, surreal poems, prose poems, visual
poems—it’s all poetry. The most important thing a poem can be is
memorable. Does it lodge itself in your gut? Does it sing in there?
