Editorial Focus
Moss is a venue for showcasing and supporting writers of the Pacific Northwest, with a special focus on emerging talent and a mission of celebrating and preserving the Northwest’s robust literary culture. Moss is published online three times annually, with each volume collected in an annual print anthology. “...where place-based writing is often a buzzword, the journal provides an in-depth examination into what it means for writing to be 'Northwestern.'” —Bill Carty, City Arts
Tips From the Editor
We accept fiction and non-fiction submissions on a rolling basis; response time may vary based on the issue schedule. Though we will consider pieces of any length, we prefer submissions of at least 1,800 words; shorter pieces may be paid at a reduced rate. We are not accepting poetry at this time. Submissions are limited to current residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia and those with a substantial connection to the region. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, with the condition that you notify us immediately if your piece is accepted for publication elsewhere. Please send only one submission, attached as a Word document, to mosslit [at] gmail [dot] com. Moss pays $125 for each accepted piece. We buy First Serial Rights. There is no fee to submit.
