I'm the author of Blood Strangers: A Memoir, (Heyday Books), a LAMBDA Literary Award Finalist. An excerpt from the book was nominated for a Pushcart prize by the Dos Passos Review. My second memoir, an INDIES Award Silver Medalist, was published under a pen name in order to provide privacy for my family.
I'm shopping my novel manuscript, WHETHER THEY BE, which is set in the turbulent days of 1968, when a shameful secret is exposed, forcing two families--one black and one white--to confront their histories and negotiate their paths forward. It has been short- and long-listed in several manuscript contests.
My writing has also appeared in Under the Sun, Brain Child, Sojourn, upstreet, the L.A. Times, Huffington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Poets & Writers, Literary Mama, The Writer, Unbound Press, So to Speak, Hip Mama, Skirt!, Teacher Magazine, BARK Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Passager, KQED Radio (PBS), and elsewhere. I'm currently at work on essays and another novel.
