The 29th annual Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) Postgraduate Writers’ Conference will be held from August 3 to August 9 on the Champlain College campus in Burlington, Vermont. Designed for writers with graduate degrees or equivalent experience, the conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, craft talks, and one-on-one consultations with faculty members. Each workshop is limited to five or six participants. The faculty includes poets Eduardo C. Corral, Kathleen Graber, A. Van Jordan, Emilia Phillips, and David Wojahn; fiction writers Steve Almond, Andre Dubus III, Tayari Jones, Ellen Lesser, and Lee Martin; and creative nonfiction writers Paul Lisicky, Dinty W. Moore, Sue William Silverman, and Clifford Thompson. The tuition for all workshops is $1,115, except for the poetry manuscript workshop, which is $1,295. The cost of on-campus housing is $400. The full conference meal plan is $295. Partial scholarships are available; to apply, submit a five-page writing sample, a personal statement, and a letter explaining financial need via e-mail.
