The 23rd annual Postgraduate Writers’ Conference will be held from August 13 to August 19 on the Vermont College of Fine Arts campus in Montpelier. The conference, designed for writers with graduate degrees or equivalent experience, features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, craft classes, and individual consultations with faculty members. Each workshop is limited to five or six participants. The faculty includes poets Matthew Dickman, Kathleen Graber, Jamaal May, Patricia Smith, and David Wojahn; fiction writers Andre Dubus III, Ann Hood, Ellen Lesser, Lee Martin, and Ana Menéndez; and creative nonfiction writers Richard McCann, Kyoko Mori, Sue William Silverman, and Anthony Swofford. Tuition is $995 for all workshops except for the poetry manuscript workshop, which is $1,175. The cost for on-campus housing is $370 for a single room or $200 for a shared room. The full conference meal plan is $215. Scholarships are available; submit a five-page writing sample and a letter explaining need. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
