
The 28th annual Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) Postgraduate Writers’ Conference will be held from August 7 to August 13 on the Champlain College campus in Burlington, Vermont. Designed for writers with graduate degrees or equivalent experience, the conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, craft talks, and individual consultations with faculty members. Each workshop is limited to five or six participants. The faculty includes poets Nickole Brown, Eduardo C. Corral, Kathleen Graber, Patricia Smith, and David Wojahn; fiction writers Steve Almond, Andre Dubus III, Ellen Lesser, Lee Martin, and Novuyo Rosa Tshuma; and creative nonfiction writers Nick Flynn, Sonja Livingston, Sue William Silverman, and Clifford Thompson. The tuition for all workshops is $1,115 except for the poetry manuscript workshop, which is $1,295. The cost of on-campus housing is $380. The full conference meal plan is $275. Scholarships are available; submit a five-page writing sample, a personal statement, and a letter explaining need. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
