Author's Bio

Elaine Mott was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946. She earned a Master's Degree in English, and another Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics from Queens College. She taught English as a Second Language at Nassau Community College on Long Island, before retiring with her husband to the Catskill Mountains in upstate NY. She passed away in 2009, but her work is being rediscovered by a new generation. A posthumous collection of her poetry, "Splitting the Velvet Dark," was just published by Casey Shay Press in March 2014. Elaine Mott's poems have a theme of reaching through the hardship and pain of everyday life to find beauty and moments of transcendence.
