David's first full-length manuscript, Twine, now available from Bauhan Publishing, won the 2013 May Sarton Poetry Prize. David just released Compendium (Omnidawn Publishing 2017), a collection of Donald Justice's take on prosody. David's second full-length collection, Scatterplot, is due out from Omnidawn Publishing in 2020.

David earned a BA in Creative Writing at Carnegie Mellon and an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Florida. He also has an M.Ed (equiv) from the University of Alaska and was an Annenberg Fellow with the Breadloaf Rural Teacher Network. David has taught at various levels from middle school to university including Eastern Oregon and San Francisco State University. For the last five years David has taught "Prosody as a Revision Strategy" for Omnidawn Publishing. All tuition is donated directly to Omnidawn Publishing, where David is also the Chairman of the Board.

David's writing has also appeared in several chapbooks and a wide range of 60 or so literary magazines including Kenyon Review, New England Review, Rhino, Volt, Carolina Quarterly, Diagram, McSweeney's, The Greensboro Review, Prairie Schooner, and many others.
