I'm the Director of Writing Workshops Dallas. A 2014 graduate of the MFA Program at UC Irvine, I currently teach in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Texas at Dallas. I'm the recipient of a generous Emerging Writer Grant from The Elizabeth George Foundation. My fiction has been broadcast on NPR, performed on stage in Los Angeles, and published by Tin House, McSweeney’s, Redivider, Green Mountains Review, FiveChapters, The Lifted Brow, Hobart, Puerto del Sol, The Los Angeles Review, Short Fiction, Day One, PANK, Monkeybicycle, Fiction Southeast, The Masters Review, Booth, Faultline, Surreal South '13, FLAUNT Magazine, and selected by Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Olen Butler for inclusion in The Best Small Fictions 2015 Anthology. My chapbook of short tales, Families Among Us, an Indie Bestseller now in its second printing, won the 2013 Black River Chapbook Competition and was published by Black Lawrence Press in September 2014. At UC Irvine I completed a full-length story collection and have just written my first novel. I plan to query agents Spring 2017. I have been awarded fellowships to attend the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and the Vermont Studio Center. I have also taught creative writing at UC-Irvine
