Jennifer O'Grady

Author's Bio

Jennifer O'Grady is an award-winning poet and playwright. Her book of poetry, WHITE, won the Mid-List Press First Series Award and a Greenwall Award from The Academy of American Poets. Her poems have been taught, anthologized, set to music, and selected for Harper's, The Writer's Almanac with Garrison Keillor, Poetry Daily, and such popular websites as Bustle and MariaShriver.com. Her poems have been published in a wide variety of journals and periodicals including Poetry, The New Republic, The Yale Review, The Georgia Review, The Kenyon Review, Southwest Review, The Florida Review, and Plume (to name a few). Her other honors include a Billee Murray Denny Award, a W.K. Rose Fellowship, and several Pushcart Prize nominations. O'Grady is also a prizewinning playwright whose plays have been staged in New York, Michigan, Texas, and Kentucky. Her dramatic work has been published or is forthcoming in The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2017 (Smith and Kraus), The Best Stage Monologues for Women 2017 (Smith and Kraus), The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2016 (Smith and Kraus), Best Contemporary Monologues for Women 18-35 (Applause Books) and The Best Stage Monologues for Women 2014 (Smith and Kraus). She holds an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Vassar (where she won awards for her writing) and lives near New York City with her husband, son, and daughter, two dogs, two cats, and a rabbit.
