Editorial Focus
Colorado Review’s is committed to publishing contemporary poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. It does not publish genre fiction (unless it is more literary than genre), nor does it subscribe to a particular literary philosophy or school of poetry or fiction. Note that the editors read nonfiction year-round. CR is a good home for the longer short story or essay (15 to 25 ms pages, occasionally longer but never more than 35 pages).
Tips From the Editor
Please be familiar with the journal before submitting. We feature examples of each genre from every issue on our website. Successful writers are prolific readers. The simple cover letter is the best cover letter. Poets are encouraged to submit groups of poems that work together. Long poems are welcome. We are also a good home for longer essays and stories. We also welcome graphic (as in illustrated) fiction and nonfiction.
