Lighthouse Writers Workshop

Lighthouse Writers Workshop is the largest nonprofit literary center in Colorado and the Mountain West. Since 1997, they have offered writing instruction and workshops in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting, playwriting, and many other genres. A community-based center for the art and craft of writing, they also offer master classes, seminars on publishing, a year-long fellowship, and off-site retreats, as well as sponsor the annual Lighthouse Lit Fest conference.

Source Booksellers is an independent bookstore in Detroit's Midtown district that specializes in nonfiction books. They also host literary readings, book talks, and conversations with local and national authors; mind, body, and spirit classes and workshops; and other community events.

The Mercantile Library

The Mercantile Library maintains and expands a large, historic collection of books while presenting a healthy schedule of events including author and writer visits and events, book discussions, lectures, workshops, and forums. Additionally, the library is home to a diverse collection of artworks including portrait busts, paintings, and sculpture.

Changing Hands Bookstore: Phoenix

Founded in 1974, Changing Hands Bookstore is an independent community bookstore and online bookseller that gives a portion of its proceeds to local schools and over two hundred local, national, and international charities and service organizations. A second location, in Tempe, was opened in 1998. The bookstores host frequent author readings and signings, writing classes and workshops, and other literary events. The Phoenix branch of the bookstore also has the First Draft Book Bar, which serves beer, wine, coffee, and food, and hosts a happy hour book club.

The Winchester Book Gallery is a forty-four-year-old independent, locally owned bookstore serving the northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. They sell new books, local art, cards, and puzzles, and regularly host book readings and signings, game nights, live music, and other literary events and local celebrations.

Located in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, Secret Garden Books is a full service general bookstore featuring books for everyone, with a particular specialty in children's books.
