The Savvy Self-Publisher

The first installment of The Savvy Self-Publisher appeared in the September/October 2014 issue of Poets & Writers Magazine. Since then, industry veteran Debra W. Englander, who managed a business-book program at John Wiley & Sons for nearly seventeen years and previously worked at Money Magazine and Book-of-the-Month Club, has interviewed a number of writers who have self-published their books and pursued the long and involved process of getting their work into the hands of readers.

For each installment of the column, Englader also interviews publishing professionals such as freelance editors, independent publicists, literary agents, and booksellers to provide commentary on the author's approach.

Self-publishing can be a lonely road to travel, with the responsibility of writing, editing, design, printing, promotion, and sales falling squarely on the shoulders of the author. The Savvy Self-Publisher aims to provide invaluable advice and guidance every step of the way.
