Editorial Focus

midnight & indigo is a literary magazine dedicated to celebrating the voices of Black women writers worldwide. We publish work that is as varied and vibrant as the writers behind it. Stories explore everything from everyday moments to imagined futures, always centering the emotional truth of the narrative. In our pages, you’ll find fiction, essays, and layered storytelling that opens up entire worlds, both familiar and unknown, and invites you to linger inside them.

Tips From the Editor

In addition to our literary journal, we publish works online, facilitate writing classes, and offer developmental editing services. To date, we have published 400+ Black storytellers across the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Asia, and Australia. Launched in 2022, our Writing Program has served 600+ students since its inception. We are 100% Black woman–owned.
