The Corner Bookstore

The Corner Bookstore became an instant mecca for a book-hungry Carnegie Hill when it opened in 1978. Located in a landmark neighborhood in New York City, it has been satisfying the literary desires of this residential neighborhood for over three decades. It takes enormous pride in its stock, and carefully selects current adult fiction and nonfiction titles to bring only the best of the best to its customers. Its commitment to carrying “only the best of the best” extends to all sections of the store including history, biography, travel, cookbooks, parenting, poetry, mysteries, and art.

Vermillion

Showcasing dedicated, professional artists, Vermillion offers art, wine, beer, cocktails, and a daily seasonal menu in a unique, comforting setting. The space hosts a variety of events including art openings, live music, and literary and poetry readings.

Rock Papers Scissors Collective

Rock Paper Scissors Collective is a member-led, all volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fosters creativity and collaboration in order to strengthen local communities, encourage sustainable creative practices, and explore alternative models through non-hierarchical, consensus-based organizing. They promote the sharing of ideas, skills, and resources through the celebration of art, craft, education, and performance.

Newark Arts Alliance

Established in 1993, the Newark Arts Alliance (NAA) is a membership organization dedicated to developing community through the arts. The mission of the Newark Arts Alliance is to provide the citizens of greater Newark with the opportunity to explore and display their creativity and participate in cultural events that build community. The NAA offers classes for students of all ages and skill levels, holds events dedicated to the visual, literary, and performing arts, and sponsors a popular, full-day arts camp for two weeks each summer.

Arab American National Museum

The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is the first and only museum in the United States devoted to documenting and sharing Arab American contributions that shaped the economic, political and cultural landscapes of American life. The Museum also brings to light the shared experiences of immigrants and ethnic groups, paying tribute to the diversity of our nation. Included in the museum’s public programming are conferences, multicultural performance series, film festivals, arts collaborations with area ethnic communities, seminars, author readings, and book signings. 

Every Thing Goes Book Cafe & Neighborhood Stage

ETG Book Cafe is the largest (and only!) used bookstore in Staten Island. It has a well-organized and diverse book collection, spanning all three rooms of the store. It also sells some new books: recently-published books, some books about Staten Island, and some by local authors. It has an excellent children’s book corner, some vintage and collectible books, as well as a few “antiques.”

NYU Bookstore

The NYU Bookstore features an event space for in-store author readings and book signings. Events typically begin at 6:00 PM and end at 7:30 PM. Seating is limited, no reservations are needed and events are free and open to the public.

Trinosophes

Trinosophes is an independent arts venue and café, located in the historic Eastern Market district of Detroit. The vegan-friendly café features locally sourced fare and the art space hosts live music, art exhibits, and poetry readings. The space also houses Trinosophes Projects, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization that presents hundreds of concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, literary readings and other art events per year by international artists.

Walker Art Center

Internationally recognized as a leading arts venue, the Walker Art Center presents contemporary visual arts and design exhibitions, dance, theater, and music performances, and film screenings. The Walker hosts lectures, classes, and events for visitors of all ages with many of today’s leading figures from the worlds of art and culture.
