Editorial Focus

Founded in October 2000 and currently published 10 times annually, the Brooklyn Rail provides an independent forum for arts, culture, and politics throughout New York City and far beyond. Their journal, in addition to featuring local reporting; criticism of music, dance, film, and theater; and original fiction and poetry, covers contemporary visual art in particular depth.

Tips From the Editor

One of the Rail’s many idiosyncrasies is that we do not have an editor in chief; each of our editors has autonomy over their section. If you are interested in submitting a pitch, press release, or manuscript, please direct it to the attention of the editor your piece would concern. Please review the masthead and contact the desired editor at [section]@brooklynrail.org (e.g. artseen@brooklynrail.orgdance@brooklynrail.org). Please note that our poetry and fiction sections do not accept unsolicited submissions. Due to the volume of pitches received, editors cannot respond to all emails.
