The 23rd annual James River Writers Conference was held online and in person from October 3 to October 5 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond. The conference started with online master classes on October 3; the following two days of programming included in-person pitch sessions with literary agents, first page and query letter critiques, workshops, panels, networking opportunities, and a poetry showcase for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers.

The eleventh annual Inkubator Writing Conference, sponsored by Literary Cleveland, was held from September 11 to September 13 at the Cleveland Public Library in downtown Cleveland. The conference featured workshops, craft talks, panel discussions, readings, and a book fair for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers to help “empower writers, celebrate literary excellence, and amplify diverse voices.” Participating writers included poet Nandi Comer, fiction writer Jonathan Escoffery, and nonfiction writer Maris Kreizman. The 2025 Texas Book Festival was held on November 8 and November 9 around the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin. The festival featured panels, discussions, and book signings with more than 250 authors and hosts nearly 100 exhibiting vendors from magazines, presses, and other literary organizations. Participating writers included poets Ada Limón and Cecily Parks; fiction writers Marcy Dermansky, Nathan Harris, Brandon Hobson, Miriam Toews, and Bryan Washington; fiction and nonfiction writer Amy Tan; and nonfiction writers Skip Hollandsworth, Ibram X. Kendi, and Andrew Ross Sorkin.

The Djerassi Resident Artists Program offers monthlong residencies from February through November to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators on a 583-acre ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains, approximately 37 miles south of San Francisco. Residents are provided with a private barn loft or studio, which includes a bed, a work space, and a bathroom (which may be shared with one other person) as well as meals.
