Shelf Life Books

Established in 2002, Shelf Life Books, formerly known as Chop Suey Books, offers the Richmond community two floors of new and gently used literature, art, photography, architecture, design, philosophy, poetry, theater, and film. The shop hosts various author events, including readings, with a healthy calendar of events throughout the year.

The YMCA’s Downtown Writers Center

The YMCA’s Downtown Writers Center, the only community center for the literary arts in Central New York State, hosts readings by many established and emerging poets and authors each year. The series has been in operation since 2001.

University of Wisconsin’s Creative Writing Program

Though officially founded in 1978 by professor and poet Ron Wallace, the Program in Creative Writing has been around for almost as long as the Department of English; over the years its students and faculty have included such distinguished writers as Jean Toomer, Eudora Welty, Delmore Schwartz, Wallace Stegner, Saul Bellow, Lorraine Hansberry, James Merrill, Gwendolyn Brooks, Joyce Carol Oates, Anthony Doerr, Lorrie Moore, Lauren Groff, Amaud Jamaul Johnson, and Danez Smith.

Cherrywood Coffeehouse

Cherrywood Coffeehouse is a cafe and performance space in Austin, Texas, that hosts a variety of musical and literary events, including Artistic Words Live, an open mic show featuring poetry, comedy, and live music.

In addition to Dia Beacon, Dia Bridgehampton, and Dia Chelsea, Dia maintains and operates a constellation of commissions, long-term installations, site-specific projects, and Land art, nationally and internationally. Napa Bookmine

Napa Bookmine opened its doors in downtown Napa on Friday the 13th, September 2013. They have since grown to hold over 25,000 books—used and new—and feature a year-round calendar of community events including author events, book clubs, game nights, and more! It is their hope to provide a welcoming, safe, inspiring place for their community to gather and celebrate the love of books.

Vermillion

Showcasing dedicated, professional artists, Vermillion offers art, wine, beer, cocktails, and a daily seasonal menu in a unique, comforting setting. The space hosts a variety of events including art openings, live music, and literary and poetry readings.

Oblong Books & Music

Oblong Books & Music began as Oblong Books & Records in Millerton, New York, in October 1975. In 2001, this second location was opened in Rhinebeck. The largest independent book and music store in the Hudson Valley, the shop hosts author events and readings frequently.

The Twig Book Shop

The Twig Book Shop began its evolution in 1972. Currently located at the former Pearl Brewery on the Museum Reach of the Riverwalk, The Twig provides newly released books for children and adults as well as award-winning classics. The space at Pearl has become a venue for local and national poets and authors. The Twig makes books available for book clubs, schools, and conferences. The Texana collection makes the Twig a destination for history lovers near and far.

City Lights Bookstore

City Lights Bookstore is in Sylva, North Carolina, on a Main Street town tucked in the heart of the southern Appalachian Mountains. Their goal is to share the literature of the region with the world, and the world of books with their community.
