Author's Bio

Dorianne Laux’s most recent books of poems are The Book of Men (2011) and Facts about the Moon (2007). Laux is also author of Awake, What We Carry, finalist for the National Book Critic’s Circle Award, and Smoke, as well as a fine small press edition on Kindle, The Book of Women, from Red Dragonfly Press. Co-author of The Poet's Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry, Laux teaches at Tinhouse and Centrum in California, and Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. Her poems have been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Romanian, Dutch, Afrikkans and Brazilian Portuguese and her selected works, In a Room with a Rag in my Hand, have been translated into Arabic by Camel/Kalima Press, and French by Editions du Cygne, Paris. Recent poems appear in The American Poetry Review, Orion, Tin House, Oxford American, BOAAT, American Life in Poetry, and Poetry Everywhere, highlights from The Dodge Poetry Festival. She and her husband, poet Joseph Millar, moved to Raleigh in 2008 where she teaches poetry in the MFA program at North Carolina State University. They are founding faculty for Pacific University's Low Residency MFA Program and spend summers in Richmond, California.
