Author's Bio

Dave Malone was born in Rolla, Missouri, and grew up in Kansas and Missouri. He received an undergraduate degree from Ottawa University and later a master's from Indiana State, where he worked with poet Matthew Brennan.

He  is the author of seven books of poetry, including You Know the Ones. He has also authored two novelet series; coauthored the stageplay, The Hearts of Blue Whales; and coauthored the history book for Ottawa University (Kansas): Ottawa University: 150 Years of Significance. His honors include the Brinley-Hardy Writing Fellowship at the Mary Anderson Center for the Arts and the Plainsongs Poem Award.

His poems have appeared in Elder Mountain: A Journal of Ozark Studies, Meadow, and San Pedro River Review; and his poem, "Spring Dress," was featured on Michel Martin's NPR program Tell Me More. He hosts the weekly Friday Poems series at his website, and for events and art fairs, he brings a manual typewriter to compose poems for interested poetry lovers.
