Dave Malone is a poet and filmmaker from the Missouri Ozarks. He holds a master’s degree from Indiana State University, where he was a Pfennig Scholar and worked with poet Matthew Brennan.
A three-time Pushcart Prize nominee and Plainsongs Poem Award winner, he is the author of eight books of poetry, including his most recent, Bypass, from Aldrich Press.
His other books include Tornado Drill, O: Love Poems from the Ozarks, View from the North Ten, The Hearts of Blue Whales (stageplay), and Ottawa University: 150 Years of Significance (nonfiction).
His work has been anthologized in Jan 20, 2009, True Stories Real People One Day: The Inauguration of Barack Obama; Yonder Mountain: An Ozarks Anthology; and Hue Are You: Red (forthcoming in 2023).
A multi-hyphenate creative, he co-wrote the short film, For Keeps, which was a semi-finalist for the 2022 Lake Travis Film Festival. He offers a free monthly newsletter and can be found online at davemalone.net or on Instagram @dave.malone. Dave currently lives in West Plains, Missouri.
