Development & Marketing Internship, Summer 2018 (New York City)
Founded in 1970, Poets & Writers, Inc. is the nation’s largest nonprofit literary organization serving poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The Development & Marketing Department raises contributed income to support the organization’s programming and markets these programs. This internship represents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to non-profit fundraising and marketing for the arts and culture sector in a fast-paced and successful development office. The intern will work closely with the development and marketing staff.
The responsibilities of the Development & Marketing intern include assisting with:
• prospect and general research
• cultivation and stewardship events
• donor correspondence
• preparation of meeting materials
• preparation of grant proposals and collateral materials
• e-mail campaigns
• and administrative duties, such as filing and data entry.
Candidates should possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be web-savvy, and have a strong interest in literature and/or nonprofit management. Candidates should be able to commit to eight to ten hours per week for a minimum of ten weeks. Days and hours are flexible. This internship begins in June 2018. This position is unpaid. Poets & Writers is happy to cooperate with programs at the applicant’s university, college, or high school that offer students credit.
