Hammer Museum

A vibrant intellectual and creative nexus, the Hammer Museum is fueled by dynamic exhibitions and programs—including lectures, symposia, film series, readings, and musical performances—that spark meaningful encounters with art and ideas. Admission is free and many award-winning poets and writers are featured in readings and talks.

Since 1989, A Cappella Books has been serving the Atlanta community with a unique selection of new, used, and antiquarian titles. Together with a wide range of partners across Atlanta, the bookstore invites authors all year long for book signings and literary events. A Cappella also buys, sells, and trades used books.

Center for Literary Arts of San José

The Center for Literary Arts provides lectures, conversations, seminars, and readings—including its long-standing Major Authors Series, which features award-winning authors—that allow the San José community to interact with writers of contemporary literature who have demonstrated exceptional voice and vision. Its mission is to spread the influence of, and interest in, literature throughout the South Bay–area of California and to facilitate cross-cultural understanding in the region’s ethnically diverse population through the appreciation of works of literature.

NYU Bookstore

The NYU Bookstore features an event space for in-store author readings and book signings. Events typically begin at 6:00 PM and end at 7:30 PM. Seating is limited, no reservations are needed and events are free and open to the public.

University of Colorado Boulder’s Creative Writing Program

Each year, the Creative Writing MFA Program located in the University of Colorado Boulder’s Department of English hosts the Creative Writing Reading Series to bring innovative writers to the university for a free, on-campus reading. Past readers include National Book Award winner Terrance Hayes, Susan Steinberg, CAConrad, Ronaldo Wilson, Brian Evenson, Lynne Tillman, Claudia Rankine, M. NourbeSe Philip, and Pulitzer Prize winner Rae Armantrout.

The Book House in Dinkytown

The Book House offers the increasingly-rare opportunity to browse a large stock of used and rare books, hang out, read, write, invite friends to meet, and talk with fellow book lovers. In addition to their store stock, their online book archive of over forty thousand books can be searched through their catalog site.

Denver Public Library: Central Branch

Since 1995, the Denver Public Library Central branch has been the largest library between Los Angeles and Chicago. Central Library is located next to the Denver Art Museum and has its own art collection. Designed by postmodern architect Michael Graves, the library features a coffee shop and is home to several book clubs.

Busboys and Poets: 14th and V

With nine locations, Busboys and Poets is proud to be a venue that provides space and support for poets and spoken word performers and interested audiences. From the cozy atmosphere of the “Sunday Kind of Love” poetry series to the high intensity of the 11th Hour Poetry Slam, you will find a poetry event that will spark your creative side and leave you inspired. They have hosted several world renowned poets for readings, including Amiri Baraka, Nikki Giovanni, Alice Walker, Suheir Hammad, Rita Dove, Sonia Sanchez, Elizabeth Alexander and Denis Brutus.
