Author's Bio

Abdulkareem Abdulkareem (he/him) is a Nigerian writer and linguist. He is the author of ‘Loss is a Door’ selected by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani for the New-Generation African Poets, a Chapbook Box Set (Akashic Books, 2025). He studied Linguistics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and is currently a second year MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Alabama. His works appear and are forthcoming on The Nation, New England Review, North American Review, National Museum of Language, POETRY, Havard’s Transition Magazine, MIZNA, National Museum of Language, Poetry Wales, Waxwing, Nat Brut, SAND Journal, Qwerty Magazine, Uncanny Magazine, Lolwe, Southern Humanities Review, South Florida Poetry Journal, Rough Cut Press, West Trade Review,  Off Topic Publishing, Orion’s Belt, The Shore Poetry, Brittle Paper & elsewhere. Won the University of Ilorin S.U. Writers Competition (Poetry Category), Shortlisted for the Vallum Poetry Award, 2022, shortlisted for the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize, 2021. Shortlisted for the Palette Poetry Previously Published Poetry Prize, 2023. A recipient of the Hill Top Creative Writing Award for Excellence. Shortlisted for Best of the Net three times and the Best Spiritual Literature in 2023.
